Words of Life

God’s blessings include health, prosperity, wisdom, understanding, freedom, success. God’s blessing is for us to become all that God created us to be. The opposite of living under the blessing of God is to live under the curse of disobedience. This includes confusion, fear, anxiety, loss, death, sickness, oppression and despair. (Dt 28). Many of us, if we are honest, would say that there are areas in our lives, where the blessing of God is not real. There may be places where fear has a foothold, and confusion clouds our vision. That honesty will help us to see where the Word of God still needs to be applied in our lives.

After speaking about all the blessings and curses and sharing about the promise and the destiny of God, Moses explained the key to the treasure. “They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.” ” (Deuteronomy 32:47, NIV84) They key to receiving and walking in the purpose and destiny of God is that the Word of God becomes life to us.

There is a stage when we read the Bible and it seems idle to us. We do not understand what we are reading. We do not know how this can be real to us. We do not know what to change. Before I became a Christian, the word of God was idle in my life. The Word of God was not working and it was not bringing life to my life. I was not working to make the Word work for me. When I became a Christian, the Word began to work. I saw the life in the Word about the Love that God had for me. No longer was John 3:16 idle, but it was full of life. That life began to change my life.

What changed was that I made a choice. The Bible had not changed. The words had not changed. I chose to believe it and take God at His word. I placed faith in the Word. When faith combined with the Word of God, transformation and power and life followed.

As I grew as a Christian, I began to read more of the Word. I began to believe that God wanted to fill me with His spirit. When I believed, then I received and that Word was not idle either. The Word of God promises healing and I have received. The Word of God promises provision and I have been provided for. These words are not idle but they are full of life and power.

However, the power of Gods life giving words also applies to believing that changes needed to happen in my life. When I read about forsaking sin, I needed to believe and obey. I put away the videos and the books that did not honor God. I let go of anger and bitterness that had a hold on my life. That also brought power to the word of God and opened new doors for new life to come in.

The Bible is a powerful book. Its words are full of life when we choose to believe and then receive. There is only one way to walk into your destiny, purpose and inheritance and that is by being empowered by powerful words and not by idle words.

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. ” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV84)
