Get Filled

Being filled is very important. When our cars are filled with gas, we can travel. When our bank account is filled with money, we can provide for our needs. When the refrigerator is full with food we can eat. The car is designed for gas. The bank account is designed for money. The refrigerator is designed for food.

What we fill with is also important. If we put water in the gas tank, the car will not run. We cannot deposit Monopoly money into the bank account. We don’t put moldy food in the refrigerator.

What we fill our lives with is also very important. Just as the car is designed for gas, we are designed for God. We are created to be full of God. But if we choose to not seek the fullness of God, we get filled with other things. Filling a car comes by pouring in through the cap on the gas tank. Our lives become filled through what we hear, what we see, what we think about.

Sometimes we don’t like something in our lives, and we make a change needed to rid ourselves of the problem. If we don’t fill that void with life and with God, something else will. Jesus said, “”When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first.” ” (Luke 11:24–26, NIV)

Whatever parts of our lives are not filled with God are openings to be filled with evil and destruction. It is better to seek God and His life with everything we have. “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. ” (Philippians 4:8–9, NIV) We are filled as we seek God and as we obey God. In every area where we obey God, we are filled with god and His Life.

Are you in difficult finances? Obey God and become a generous person. Are there problems with relationships? Obey God and forgive. Are you sick? Seek God’s healing. Become a person growing in the life and presence of God.

When we are full of God, joy becomes our companion. In Acts 2, those who were filled with God appeared drunk. Being filled with God is pleasure and joy. His burden is easy and his yoke is light.
