Word of Faith

What is a Word of Faith? Some use the phrase “Word of Faith” to describe a movement that seeks prosperity and healing. Some believe that uttering a “word of faith” means that they can get whatever they speak. The Word of Faith is very important to God. We know that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ” (John 1:1, NIV84) This means that the Word is God. We know that the Word creates (John 1:2). We know that the Word has life (John 1:4). The essence of God is revealed to us in His Word.

“But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: ” (Romans 10:8, NIV84) This was a quote from “No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.” (Deuteronomy 30:14, NIV84) The next verse speaks about the power of the Word that is near us. “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. ” (Deuteronomy 30:15, NIV84) The Word of God holds in it the power to establish us in life and in prosperity. Jesus himself said, ” I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). ” (John 10:10, AMP)

So we know the Word of Faith is a word of life that transforms and carries us from the place of death and destruction to a place of life, prosperity, and abundance. Sickness destroys. Healing is life. Poverty destroys. Prosperity brings life. I want life and I want to live it to the full. I want every blessing that Jesus came to give me. I want my life to fully reflect the life of God.

This Word of Faith is near us. Not only is it close to us positionally, it is close to us in time. The Word of Faith is a Word for right now. The Word of Faith is the Word of God revealed in His Word that He speaks into our hearts to obey. It is a Word full of life. It is a Word that carries within it all the power to being that Word to pass.

Everything in Scripture carries life. Every Word has the potential to become a Word of Faith.

In a season of battle, in deep prayer, perhaps this promise comes alive. “But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord. ” (Isaiah 54:17, AMP) That is the word of faith.

In a season of sickness, in deep prayer, allowing us to reach and grab and believe the promise of God, perhaps this promise comes alive. “He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction. ” (Psalm 107:20, AMP) That is the word of faith.

In a season of poverty, in deep prayer, allowing us to finally conclude that we must believe the Word, perhaps this promise comes alive. “Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. ” (Matthew 6:29–32, AMP)

The word of faith is the promise of God that we believe. It is the Word that is in our heart. It is the Word that has changed us. It is the Word that has transformed us. I am a Word of faith person.
